Delivery roleplay: a guide to try as a couple

The doorbell rings. The order has finally arrived, but the customer has nothing to pay with, and the driver isn't allowed to leave without being paid. Somebody is going to have to find another arrangement.

This guide has the two roles, three intensity levels, lines, secret twists and questions for afterward. It starts at the front door, so you get to play from the very first knock. Keep what appeals to you and ignore the rest.

Roleplay is for adults who both want to play. Before the bell rings, agree on how far tonight goes and on a phrase that ends the scene.

Wondering if your partner would open the door to this one? Answer privately in the Yes · No · Maybe app, which only shows the scenarios you both want.

Why this scenario works

This one starts at the threshold, with a knock, a bag and a slightly rehearsed phrase, and that crossing from outside to inside is a small thrill of its own. You get to be surprised even though you know exactly who is on the other side.

The setup is also unusually easy to stage. There is a real meal to share at the end, a real bell, and an excuse for B to be nearly undressed that needs no explanation. Nobody has to learn lines for a story this simple: one person owes, and the other would like to be paid.

The two roles

Call them A and B. Choose who plays whom, and switch next time.

  • A, the delivery driver: get paid, one way or another, before the next drop-off.
  • B, the customer: keep the order without spending a cent.

The standoff is friendly: A has a rule, B has a weak spot for negotiation. The more patiently each character holds their position, the better the scene goes.

Setting and props

The front door first, then the inside. B answers in a robe or towel. Gather:

  • a real takeout meal, or just a box;
  • a cap;
  • an insulated bag;
  • an imaginary payment terminal.

Order something you both like, and keep an eye on the clock: food that arrives hot is a good reminder of when to wrap up and eat.

Three intensity levels

Choose a level before the bell. You can change your mind at any time.

Gentle

Flirting on the doorstep, a tip paid in a kiss.

Playful

The driver comes in to "check the order". The robe falls open.

Intense

The order is paid for in kind, before it goes cold. Make sure you've both said yes to this level before the scene starts.

Are you both in?

Scenes that begin at the front door can feel more exposed, because B has to open it in their robe. Neither of you wants to learn halfway down the hall that one of you would rather not.

With Yes · No · Maybe, you each answer privately to every scenario with yes, no or maybe. The app shows only the ones you both want to explore, so a no never has to be said aloud. The Roleplay pack has 45 scenarios. It is a one-time premium purchase on iPhone or Android, and your partner can join in without buying it. You can try the free game in your browser as well, though it doesn't include the pack.

Choose your scenarios separately

The Roleplay pack in the Yes · No · Maybe app (iPhone and Android) lets you each answer in private. You only see the scenarios you agree on. Your partner can play without buying anything.

The phrase that ends the scene

Pick a phrase that stops everything for good. For this one, the neat choice is: "Order canceled." You close the door, laugh, and eat.

Either of you can say it at any time without explaining. If you want help choosing one that works for you, read a safe word for roleplay.

Lines to get started

Opening line (A): "Delivery for..." (A checks the slip) "...is that you?"

Lines for A, the delivery driver

  • "That'll be $32. Card or cash?"
  • "I can't leave without payment. It's the rule."
  • "There are other ways to settle the bill."

Lines for B, the customer

  • "My wallet's around here somewhere. Come in, I'll look."
  • "Do you accept tips in kind?"
  • "It's cold out. Have you got five minutes?"

Treat them as a nudge to find your characters, not a script. The doorstep banter will write itself.

Three secret twists

Each of you secretly chooses one:

  • B orders every night just to see A again.
  • A got the wrong address: this isn't the right order.
  • A rating in the app decides A's bonus this month.

To turn up the heat: B lets the towel or robe drop: "That's everything I have on me."

After the scene: talk about it

Over the meal, if you like. A few easy questions:

  • The front door and the element of surprise: worth repeating?
  • Was B's outfit at the door right?
  • Dinner at the end or the start next time?

For ideas on a soft landing, read after roleplay: aftercare and debrief.

To replay it differently: order a real meal and have one of you deliver it while the other waits. The game starts the moment the bell rings.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need to order real food?

It helps, because there is something real to share afterward, but an empty box works fine. What matters is the knock.

What if the actual delivery arrives in the middle of the scene?

Pause, take the order, and decide whether to pick it up again. The interruption can become a twist of its own.

Should B really wear a robe?

Only if it feels good. A towel, a big shirt or ordinary clothes are all fine, since the roleplay doesn't depend on the outfit.
