Massage therapist roleplay: how to play it together

A stiff back, a warm table and a pair of hands that are supposed to be healing. In this roleplay the therapist's touch starts out strictly medical and wanders, little by little, well beyond the sore spot. It is a slow scenario, a good fit for evenings when you want to take your time.

You'll find the two roles, three intensity levels, lines to get going, secret twists and questions to talk over afterward. Keep what suits you and skip the rest.

Roleplay is for adults who both want to play. Before you start, agree on how far tonight goes and on a phrase that stops everything (see below).

Curious whether your partner would say yes? Each of you can answer privately in the Yes · No · Maybe app, and only the scenarios you both like are shown.

Why this scenario works

Touch is already the point, so there is nothing to explain. A massage gives you a legitimate reason to lie still, close your eyes and be handled slowly, and a legitimate reason to take your time handling someone else. The roleplay adds a layer of professional distance, and that distance is what makes each small crossing of it feel charged.

It also asks very little of you. No costume budget, no script, and no acting talent: warm oil and a steady voice carry most of the scene. If you've ever wanted to turn a casual shoulder rub into something deliberate, this is the frame for it.

The two roles

Call them A and B. Who plays whom is your call, and you can trade places at the end.

  • A, the massage therapist: loosen every knot with spotless professionalism, and put off for as long as possible the moment the massage stops being medical.
  • B, the client: let it happen, while quietly steering A toward the spots that "really hurt".

A's discipline is what keeps the tension up. If the therapist abandons the clinical manner at the first sigh, there is nothing left to cross.

Setting and props

A bed or table covered with a big towel, a warm room and some spa-style music. A few things help:

  • massage oil, warmed up in your hands or a bowl of hot water;
  • extra towels within reach;
  • a small "intake form" for A to fill in at the start.

Heating the room matters more than any prop. A client who is cold will not relax, and a scene that depends on relaxing needs a warm room.

Three intensity levels

Choose one before you begin. You can always change it along the way.

Gentle

Back, shoulders and legs, under the towel. You keep your underwear on. The pleasure is in the pace and the pressure, not in how much is uncovered.

Playful

The towel slips. Thighs, the insides of the knees, the lower back, with hands getting slower and slower.

Intense

B turns over, and the session becomes a "full-body massage". A sets the rhythm and B is not allowed to touch. Only go here if you've both agreed to it beforehand, outside the scene.

Are you both in?

Suggesting a massage is easy. Suggesting a massage that goes somewhere is trickier, because a no feels personal, and a hesitant yes can leave one person quietly uneasy.

Yes · No · Maybe takes the awkward part out. You each answer every scenario in private, with yes, no or maybe, and the app shows only the ones you both want to explore. A no is never revealed, and a maybe simply becomes a good reason to talk. The Roleplay pack contains 45 scenarios, each answered separately before you choose one. It is a single premium purchase on iPhone or Android, and your partner can play along without paying. The free version in your browser works as a first taste, but it does not include the pack.

Choose your scenarios separately

The Roleplay pack in the Yes · No · Maybe app (iPhone and Android) lets you each answer in private. You only see the scenarios you agree on. Your partner can play without buying anything.

The phrase that ends the scene

Pick a phrase that stops everything, no questions asked. Here the natural choice is: "We're stopping the session." A takes their hands away and lays the towel over B. After that, you simply talk like yourselves again.

Either of you can say it, at any moment, and neither owes an explanation. For ideas on picking one that works, see a safe word for roleplay.

Lines to get started

Opening line (A): "Lie face down. Tell me where it's tight."

Lines for A, the massage therapist

  • "Breathe into that spot. I can feel it letting go."
  • "This is very tense. I'll have to work on it for a while."
  • "That muscle is connected to a lot of other things."

Lines for B, the client

  • "A little lower... yes, right there."
  • "Are you sure insurance covers this?"
  • "I think I'm tense somewhere else too."

Use them as a starting tone, not as a text. The best moments will be the ones you make up.

Three secret twists

Each of you secretly chooses one twist and doesn't tell the other:

  • B invented a bad back just to see A again.
  • This is A's last appointment of the day, and they lock up the clinic right after.
  • The session is being filmed for a "training video", so you both have to stay believable.

To turn up the heat: A asks, "Would you like me to keep going?" and then waits for the answer without moving their hands.

After the scene: talk about it

Keep the conversation light. Three questions are plenty:

  • Which touch made you drop out of the role?
  • Slow and deep pressure, or featherlight strokes?
  • Would you want this as a ritual, even without a storyline?

If you're not sure how to wind down, after roleplay: aftercare and debrief has simple ideas.

To replay it differently: switch roles, or try a duo massage where you take turns and the first to crack loses.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need massage oil?

Not strictly, but a warm, lightly scented oil makes the scene feel real and lets hands glide. Test it on a small patch of skin first, since some oils irritate.

Can we just do the massage and skip the roleplay?

Of course. The roleplay is an extra layer, and plenty of couples start with a plain massage and add the characters later, once the setting feels familiar.

What if B falls asleep?

It happens, and it means the massage worked. Pull a blanket over them and save the story for another night.
